Benjamin Hirsh is a cardiologist, faculty, and Director of Preventative Cardiology at Northwell Health. He is also Co-Director of the Center for Prevention & Wellness at the Northwell Cardiovascular Institute. He obtained his BA and MD from Northwestern University and Emory University then came to New York where he completed residency in Internal Medicine at Columbia Presbyterian Hospital and Fellowship in Cardiology at Mount Sinai Hospital.
Dr. Hirsh provides high-quality, comprehensive care for patients with all types of cardiovascular disease. In addition to his busy general cardiology practice, his primary academic focus is in preventive cardiology and cholesterol management. During his time at Northwell, he was the founder and director of the cardiac and virtual cardiac rehabilitation program as well as the Co-founder and Director of the Lipid Center. He serves on regional and national committees, including serving as board member of the Northeast Lipid Association, a member of the American Heart Association's Atherosclerosis and Lipidology subcommittee, and a member of the American College of Cardiology's Diabetes and Cardiometabolic Working Group.
He has published several articles in the field of lipids and metabolism and is currently a member of the writing group for an AHA scientific statement on the impact of lowering LDL and the risk of Dementia. In addition to his primary focus, he has a large, general cardiology practice in Manhasset and teaches fellows and residents on the consult service. He lives in Long Island with his wife and 2 girls.
